6月5日,美国阿克伦大学的庞毅教授来访我组并做了一场精彩的报告。

Dr Pang Yi received BS from Zhengzhou University in 1981, and then received a Ph.D. in organic chemistry from Iowa State University(USA) in 1990. After three years postdoctoral study at DOE Ames Laboratory, he joined the faculty position at Clark Atanta University (and hold joint appointment at NASA sponsored polymer center). In 2005, he moved to the University of Akron, and holds the Coleman Chair Processor position since then.
His research interests include the following aspects:
1) Design and synthesis of novel pi-conjugated materials with high luminescence; Seeking hybrid materials which combine the optical stability and performance of both inorganic and organic materials.
2) Modification of the polymer chain rigidity for biomedical applications, such as artificial muscle and drug delivery; Development of new polymeric fluorescent materials with reversible gelation properties.
3) Correlation between the chain microstructures and physical properties of polymers.
4) Elucidation of electronic band structures of pi-conjugated molecules for fundamental understanding and potential laser applications.
